   Lanna
      &
   David

Owners of My Quilt Shoppe. Both Lanna and David have been in sales their entire careers. They are natives of Florida and relocated to North Carolina after they experienced Hurricane Andrew first hand. They lost their electrical supply business in Andrew and their home was severly damaged. Their lives had been torn apart and Lanna says that her quilting and Bernina 1630 saved her sanity during those days. David has been certified by both Pfaff and Bernina to enable him to have the best service department in Western North Carolina. Lanna keeps up to date on all of the new Pfaff and Bernina machines and software so she can teach new owners what they need to know to get started enjoying their new best friend. Lanna says they spent the first 20 years of their marriage selling electrical supplies and will spend the next 20 years of marriage selling sewing machines and quilting supplies!

Marianne Cagle
I am a late bloomer as far as quilting is concerned. I worked in Marketing at General Electric for thirty -seven years and had the opportunity to retire early. I wanted to get into quilting in my retirement years and this is something I have been able to do in MY QUILT SHOPPE. I have been with Lanna and David since day one. There are so many QUILTERS that I come into contact with in the shop that are willing to share their expertise and advise . It is a great way to enjoy something that you love. My husband and I have five grandchildren and another on the way. As all of you know this is one of the greatest pleasures of life. We also have a house on the lake and we spend a lot of time there. We enjoy lots of good times there with family and friends. We are very involved in our church activities.

Louise Halford
Louise has worked at My Quilt Shoppe since shortly after it opened. She is one of the few locals working here, she just never made it out of this pretty little town. Louise enjoys quilting, painting and spending time with her three beautiful granddaughters. She is an active member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. Louise enjoys working with color and fabric and would love to help anyone who needs help in making the right choice for your quilt.

Carol Kellogg
Carols sewing hobby started during high school with a home economics class in1957. From that time forward she made all her own curtains and other household items, made a Spring coat in a tailoring class, and made clothing for her 3 children when they were small. In 1979, Carols friend called and said she’d learned how to do something new and Carol should come see it. She did! She showed Carol how to do it (basically 1” hexagons sewn together) Grandmother’s flower garden. Carol went home and made a pillow. A few weeks later she and her friend decided to take a quilt class with togetherand both decided to make a Christmas quilt. They hand pieced all the blocks and then took a “put it together” class to learn the rest. Carol was on her way. She hand-pieced and hand quilted all her quilts (including a Grandmother’s Flower Garden) until she took a machine-piecing class in 1994. Carol sews/quilts every day and always has more than one project going at a time. She love country-style quilts, including primitives. Carol has given each of her 6 grandkids more than one quilt and sends little surprises to them regularly. Carol teaches The Thimbleberries Club and Primitive Clubs.

Vivian Pemple
Vivian has been quilting since the mid 1980's and started out piecing and quilting by hand. She like traditional and scrappy quilts. Vivian enjoys working with fabric and putting colors and fabrics together.

Barbara Goodman
Engaged in sewing, knitting and traditional forms of quilting over most of her adult life, Barbara finds quilting to be the most addictive. Quilting offers the most challenges and rewards while offering relaxation.

Mg Tyda
My husband, George, and I moved to Flat Rock 5 years ago. One of my first stops was My Quilt Shoppe where I upgraded my sewing machine to a Pfaff after piecing quilts on an old Feather Weight. I prefer machine piecing to hand piecing and continue to learn machine embroidery. Although we travel frequently, I love getting back to the mountains for a "shoppe" fix.

Judy Broussard
Her first encounter with a needle and thread was at age 13 in a junior high sewing class. After she sewed her fabric to the clothes she was wearing she gave up on stitchery until she found MY QUILT SHOPPE. Lanna and David sold Judy her first machine and within six months she graduated to the PFAFF quilter. Along with great teachers such as VELMA BEARDSLEY and GEN GRUNDY, the girl went wild and had to go to work at the SHOPPE to support her fabric habit. Now, there's just no stopping her!

Mary Meyers
It seems to me like I have always been sewing! I started out by sewing my doll's clothes. At age 19 I purchased my first sewing machine ( Bernina) :-) with my first paycheck from teaching school. With it I have been able to clothe my family of 3 children, and decorate the several parsonages in which we have lived during our 45+ years of ministry. I became interested in quilting when we lived in Lebanon, PA (Amish country). I would see the gorgeous Amish quilts hanging in the mall windows and I was hooked. I have completed 2 hand quilted, appliqued quilts and am currently working on the 3rd one, (one for each child). In between I have made several patchwork quilts on the sewing machine as well. Working at MQS is a wonderful therapy for me because I get to feel the fabrics, learn lots of new techniques, work with wonderful people and pass along my knowledge to some of the greatest customers in the Carolinas.

Georgia Bonesteel
Congrats to Lanna, David and team Quilt employees for creating a great Quilt Shoppe. It is a delight to have Georgia's Quilt Corner in the shoppe providing my books and other quilt related items. Since 1971 we have lived in Hendersonville so we truly call it home. My quilt career started here and continues to thrive in many directions. My travels and teaching opportunities keep me very busy. With a retired husband and seven grandchildren my priorities have changed recently but I look forward every month to my Coffee Clatches to interact with quilt makers. Please check out my revised web site at www.georgiabonesteel.com and especially my Blog.

Gen Grundy
Gen has shared her love and enthusiasm of quilting through teaching and comes to My Quilt Shoppe with that same love and enthusiasm.

Joyce Robb
"I've been quilting since 1980. My first quilt was a sampler of different patterns. The fabric was a combination of green, yellow, brown and orange and muslin was my background. Of course the fabric was the same little floral print but just in different colors. We lived in Japan for 3 years and I fell in love with oriental fabrics. We moved almost every 3 years with my husbands work and I found quilting a wonderful way to meet people and make friends. My quilt interests have moved from that first sampler quilt using templates to hand appliqué, paper piecing, contempory quilts, and art quilts. I rarely use templates today preferring rotary cutting. I also love to play around with embellishments. The primitive class I'm teaching with Carol Kellogg is another stretch for me using a color pallets I've rarely used. I usually go for the bold and bright color scheme. I've taught paper piecing, hand appliqué, basic piecing techniques and color application. I think the thing I like most about quilting besides the feel of the fabrics is the interaction of color and texture in fabric designs. Another great aspect of quilting is all the wonderful friendly people one meets."

Past President of the NC Quilt Symposium Board for 2 years (01-02) Employed at Bonesteel's Hardware and Quilt Corner for many years, advancing my knowledge and skills in machine and embroidery work. Keith Phillips
I have had my hands in almost every artisit medium since the age of 3. I have created work in mediums as diverse as textiles, ceramics and oil paints. and I'm not half bad at drawing either. I graduated from East Carolina University in 1995 with a Fine Arts degree in Art Education. My studio focus was printmaking, but the art ed. curriculum allowed me to explore other mediums as well. For the past 10 years, my wife, Gina and I, have lived all across the U.S. , including Montana, Philadelphia and California. We currently make our living in Fletcher, North Carolina, making pottery, doing freelance graphic design and designing in fabrics and textile arts. I am a freelance artist for McKenna Ryan at Pine Needles designs. Under the Pine Needles brand, I have designed the Coffee Classics Quilt Series, the Cucina Italiana Quilt Series, and the new coverlette and huge stuffed Sea Turtle for McKenna's newest series - Sea Breeze. I also works with Hoffman California Fabrics, and did a lot of the artwork for their Silent Inspirations fabric line. This summer we are pleased to announce we will be teaching at My Quilt Shoppe.

Saradean Hallman
Saradean began making quilts in 1998. After studying hand piecing and quilting, she became determined to learn how to make her sewing machine do the work. The bright colors from her work as a costume designer for the family business have flowed over into her quilts. Saradean’s quilts have appeared in AQS and IQA shows where they have won numerous awards. She also has had pieces traveling with the Hoffman Challenge. She has won the Excellence in Machine Quilting at the South Carolina Quilt Show in Aiken, S.C. and 2nd place in the American Professional Quilting Systems’ Challenge and Most Humorous in the Road to California show. She especially enjoys sharing her love of machine quilting through teaching.

Tracy Mason
My mother and I had been visiting quilt stores for many years. I was the designated fabric coordinator of our outings. It was her fondest wish that I would start quilting with her. In 2002 I made my first quilt. I started quilting as a comfort following the death of my child. Quilting then became a vital part of my life. I attended various quilting classes in piecing and appliqué at local shops. I also attended a class by Mark Lipinski which was a blast. I began designing quilts for my mother and I, which evolved into my current design company of Covenant Quilts. There are currently 6 patterns in print and numerous others in various stages of the production. The business was so named because my quilting and design abilities are a gift from God to give me comfort and support in my life. The business is a Faith based adventure and many of the quilts and patterns contain either scripture, a cross theme, or have crosses within the blocks.
